Most patients find a BBL HEROic treatment to be well-tolerated. It is often described as feeling like a quick snap on the skin, with the sensation fading quickly as the handheld device pulses over the area. BBL HEROic’s CoolComfort™ technology cools the epidermis during the procedure, eliminating the need for topical anesthesia. After the treatment, it is normal for the skin to feel warm for about 30 to 60 minutes.

A BBL HEROic treatment typically takes 20-30 minutes, depending on the size and areas being treated.

A week or two after a BBL HEROic treatment, your skin will look more even, youthful, glowing, and smooth. There is minimal-to-no downtime after a BBL HEROic treatment, allowing patients to typically resume normal activities immediately. Your skin may feel sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn, but this usually subsides within 48 hours. You might notice temporary darkening of pigmented areas, along with some redness and swelling, as part of the natural healing process where damaged cells are replaced by new ones. Follow your provider's advice, avoid direct sun exposure, and wear broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen, especially during the first 72 hours post-treatment. Depending on the skin's pre-existing condition, mild discomfort, dryness, or minor crusting may occur. You can typically resume using skincare products and makeup within 1-2 days post-treatment.

During a BBL HEROic treatment, a clear gel is applied to the treatment areas to aid in the absorption of light energy. As the procedure starts, you should experience minimal to no discomfort as the provider gently moves the handpiece over your skin. Pulsed light enhances your skin in two ways: it first targets vascular and pigmented areas, such as visible blood vessels and sunspots, breaking them down for the body to absorb. Additionally, the heat generated in collagen-rich areas stimulates the body's healing response, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and promoting a more youthful appearance.
